One of the questions I’ve been asked a lot is what type of people are you looking for?

Well, we aren’t just looking for musicians…we are also looking for people that would be willing to come and do administration and help keep us organized….with a van full of musicians that is a big…and hugely important task.  We are of course, also looking for musicians, sound and lighting people.  We are looking for people with a willingness to serve God, who are talented and hard workers, with a passion for helping people.

You may wonder how is this different for a one-year bible school certificate.

Well, you still will get biblical training and musical training…we will bring in people to make sure that you are equipped like bible school.  The thing that is a bonus is that instead of just learning about ministry…you are doing ministry.  It is very hands on and interactive.  You will not only stretch and grow from intellectual perspective but also from a musical perspective as well.

If you’re interested you probably want to know how long the program runs.

Well, it goes from September to December and February to May.

So what kind of music do you get to play?

We will do a combination of performance and worship songs.  Click on the icon to the right of this blog that says “Listen to Linnea” to get a feel for some of the songs that we will be playing.  There will also be other material as well…worship music…and some covers as well. 

Another question I get is…are there fundraising requirements?  And how does that work?

Yes, all fundraising would go through Break Forth Ministries so people can get a tax receipt.  If you have any questions about details…let us know and we will try to answer them as best as we can.

This weekend has been a blast at Break Forth Canada!!!  I’ve enjoyed being a part of it once again.  For the Winter Fest concert I got to share the stage with Jon Bauer, Junkyard Poets, Leeland, 33 Miles, Bluetree, Pocket Full of Rocks, Building 429, and Geoff Moore.  It was so much fun!!!  Break Forth is always so much fun to be a part of because I not only get to sing and do the music part of it but also get to work with the nuts and bolts and the behind the scenes action as well.  Now is the time that we will start wrapping up the administration part of the conference and we’re starting booking now for a tour with Jill Hagen in April and a tour in the fall…if your interested just send me an email at linnea@linneasalte.com.  We will be adding new gigs all the time so make sure to check back to look at the calendar of when we will be in the area!!

Well, some of you may not know but I actually have another job beyond just touring…gasp.  So now begins the insanity of my secret identity….alter ego…or whatever. I now am heading into prepping for a conference that my family and friends put on called Break Forth Canada.  You can check it out at www.breakforthministries.com.  So now I get to spend a little time at home and begin to work the administrative side of my brain.  Also, I will be playing on the Sunday, January 30th at WinterFest with Jon Bauer, Junkyard Poets, 33 Miles, Bluetree, Pocket Full of Rocks, Building 429, Geoff Moore, and Leeland.  Fun Times.

At this GMA Covenant Awards my brother’s and I got to present my father (Arlen Salte) with a lifetime achievement award!!  Tons of fun.  You can see a picture here.  Jared is from the band the Junkyard Poets and Brennan is the wanna be doctor…guess which one is wearing the suit.  We keep telling him that he’ll have to support all the musicians in the family.  Someone has to be sensible in the family…I don’t think he’s buying into it though;)

Just a little background on my father…Arlen started touring in 1977 so let’s just say he has slept in a lot of church pews and vans.  He also started a touring ministry called New Creation Ministries and started a conference called Break Forth in both Canada and Finland.  Pretty amazing…and it’s also rare to find a musician who actually has an entrepreneurial brain.

I think my dad made everyone cry…great acceptance speach.  Afterall…isn’t that the whole point…I don’t know.  Anyways, the entire week was a lot of fun…we had a great showcase on Wednesday.  The entire GMA music week was an amazing experience.  I truly loved it and will most certainly be back!!  Thanks to all the people who have been supportive of my entire family’s careers of the years.  It has been a blessing to meet so many of you on this month’s tour.  It’s scary the number of people who I have come in contact with who years ago billeted my father and now their billeting me on tour.  This is the best life in the world!!

GMA Canada 2009

Yesterday at 6:00 PM (Mountain Standard Time) the Gospel Music Association of Canada announced the nominations for the Covenant Awards.  Linnea Salte was nominated for three awards including (New Artist of the Year, Pop Song of the Year, and Pop Album of the Year).  Pretty Exciting…huh!!  The Convenant Awards are like the equivalent of the Christian music Junos or Canada Christian Music Grammy’s.  The Canadian GMA Week will be held at the end of October.  For more information on other nominees and on the award show please go to www.cgmaonline.com or www.ccmconference.com.
